Step 1: Submit a Letter of Inquiry

The first step in the process is to submit a letter of inquiry (LOI) to us following our guidelines.

The LOI is a way for us to understand your work, and it can also serve as a basis for further discussion. We review LOIs twice a year, as outlined in Getting Started.

We will review your LOI, and if there is sufficient alignment with our mission and priorities, we will invite you to submit a full proposal for consideration by our board of trustees.

Please bear in mind that we are a small foundation with limited staff capacity. We regret that we cannot reply to inquiries outside of our stated funding priorities and geographic focus.

Please direct any questions to info@nebf.org.

LETTER OF INQUIRY GUIDELINES

To submit an LOI to us, please log on and apply using the Log On button below. You can preview the LOI form here.

If you are a first-time visitor to our online system, you must create a new account to register your organization. Once you have registered, our online system will direct you to the LOI form.

Answer the questions on the form, paying close attention to each question’s instructions and character limits. Your responses to the questions can be brief. For most sections, a few sentences should suffice. We recommend preparing your narrative responses in Microsoft Word or a similar word processing app and then cutting and pasting the information into the form.
