Grant Amounts
Our grants range from $500 to $10,000
with an average of $7,000.
Guiding Principles
The philosophy of the Foundation is a
reflection of the personal beliefs of the trustees:
One Trustee passionately believes in the
power of grassroots movements to bring about changes. Another
is convinced that economic incentives, coupled with judicious
management of the environment, is the key to a sustainable
world. A third thinks that science and art are two
complementary manifestations of our humanity.
We prefer to help organizations start
their projects with the understanding that once they are
established, funding from other sources will be sought.
We prefer to fund grassroots
organizations and/or projects. Grassroots means that the
project or organization was conceived, developed and managed by
the community. Outside organizations may have been contacted
for start-up help, but the eventual management of the project
should be from within the local group.
In addition to funding independent
organizations, the Foundation initiates programs by contracting
consultants for specific undertakings.
